CDC: Birth defect-related hospitalization in US cost $23B in 2013

CDC researchers found that the cost of hospitalizations linked to birth defects in the US totaled $22.9 billion or 5.2% of total health care costs in 2013, while representing only 3% of all hospitalizations. The findings were published in the agency’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
